Work Week 20: As in 20 Frickin’ Degrees Again

Oh hello there! This week will be short, mostly because it hurts to type. I’ve been struggling with an overuse injury in my elbow (lateral epicondylitis, for my medical peeps) for months now. Shocking, right? What could I *possibly* have done that would overuse my right arm? Um, maybe literally everything I ever do, like, ever

Well I finally got it “fixed” with a cortisone shot yesterday, except I’m one of the very (un)lucky people in the world whose body reacted with something called a “cortisone flare”! That means the pain got significantly worse instead of better, and now I’m pretty much entirely and frustratingly incapacitated at least another 24 hours, maybe more.

On the plus side, I’ve done copious amounts of interior design research–it just happens to all be regency era. (Thanks, season 2 of Bridgerton!) We shall have chaises, greek columns, tripartite walls, decorative plaster, marble busts galore, and luxurious window treatments! Just kidding! (sort of!) But I do keep wondering where to sneak in the deep olive and vivid red color scheme of the Russell’s mansion from season 1 of The Guilded Age. Naturally, I’ll need to visit the Modiste and get gowns to match.

Well that’s the fantasy world-here’s the reality. The roof is still not fixed, but the dormers were buttoned-up enough that the drywalling has begun! We hired professionals to come install it, and holy moly are they professional! First the drywall showed up with this massive truck/crane/lift thing, and they brought all the drywall in through the upper doors.

Next, this amazing duo of two young men came in over the weekend and accomplished an insane amount of drywall installation! We are super crazy impressed with them and their work ethic! Thank you, Fitzpatrick Drywall & Plaster! Beautiful job, right!?

Look at that CURVE in Ethan’s future bedroom! It makes it look like that wall has always been a part of this house, and that we didn’t secretly add a bump out to expand the master bathroom.  Here are some other rooms:

Unfortunately, thanks to this latest and hopefully last stupid cold snap, we are probably going to see a huge spike in our electric bill to run all the space heaters so the spackle can dry, but it’s worth the cost!

We’re really truly getting somewhere, with or without me!
